Gay and lesbian community with their depiction of gay men
The media portrayal of LGBT people refers to the varying and evolving ways in which the media depicts or portrays the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. In the meantime, however, the most important thing is to treat gay and lesbian people with as much respect and dignity as you would do for any other human being.
This leads to stereotyping different types of gay people. Historically, the portrayal of the LGBT community in media has been negative, reflecting the intolerance for the LGBT community seen in cultures; however, from the s to present day, there has been an increase in the depictions of LGBT individuals, issues, and concerns within mainstream media in North America.

My message to the networks? We shouldn't loose the ability to have a sence of humour and laugh at ourselves, so long as it does not cause any hurt, but we shoulkd not be oversensitive. Television drama is a form of media, which gets into our households, almost without us realizing it and informs us, the viewers, of a series of representations and values that are ingrained in Western society and, at the same time, are either reinforced or undermined within that cultural representation, in this case, television drama.
